Denim Project Pitch

forgot to mention, last week we pitched our 'Denim' images and i think mine went down quite well
the theme was understandable and i think they quite liked my concept
however, i did manage to cock up on the actual delivery of my presentation
I'm one of these people who just 'blags' a presentation, if i practice or plan i end up going wrong
last pitch went really well but Emma (our tutor) told me that she wanted to see how much of an improvement i would make if i planned a pitch... well i did and i ended up forgetting a quote that was the main reference point of my pitch. i would have easily remembered it had i just wanted to throw it in but because i had to 'plan' a presentation, i buggered it up and it went wrong... i shall be going back to my usual blagging ways !

Studio Project: DENIM (1 of 3)

this was the first image i had taken as part of my 'Denim' Studio Project (the 2nd brief of my first year of University). The man in the image is Dave Mann - a Technical Instructor in the Photography Centre - who is an absolute treat to get to work with, he is a very fun person and always a real help.
the narrative behind my image was to get 3 different people of various age groups (as specified) to all be men and to all wear glasses (this then links back to me as a male, glasses wearing photographer).
Richard Avedon once said "My portraits are more about me than they are the people I photograph) which i think is pretty true in this denim project.

Christmas In A Nutshell

then this evening, i shall be going out for a meal with my friend for his birthday, should be nice to catch up with even more people

this is a shortened copy of my Personal Statement that got me into University at Falmouth

I would love a career in Photography (mainly Fashion Photography and Photo Shoots). I have always been incredibly interested in the subject. My fervour for photography and fashion has been ongoing for numerous years. Inspiration first came to me from such shows as Project Runway and America’s Next Top Model where I would be heavily focussed on the design element to a photo shoot, the eccentricity it features, the composition and the idea of building a collection. All these features have enthused my passion for a course in photography. Friends and staff at school call me an extrovert and flamboyant as well as very outstanding and comical. My ostentatious style has influenced a lot of my creativity across all my subject areas and I want to progress this further at university.
Having studied Graphic Design in 6th form, my AS and A2 courses have been heavily based around my photography, self-portraiture and PhotoShop work. These subjects seem to be a fine coalition for what I would like to do in the future. I am very skilled on PhotoShop which aided my decision to study Graphic Design. Having also designed and created the front cover of our Year 11 yearbook as well as posters around school and portraits of teachers and form groups. I have created commercial pieces including; advertisements, posters, flyers, tickets and draft designs for packaging.
I have uploaded work that has/will be used in my AS and A2 Graphic Design studies. I was a photographer at a christening where I created a series of portraits and group photos. I also created the ‘Hair @ Pro-styles’ advertisement. I try to be creative with my work, creating surreal portraits and striking images (the eye with two pupils for example) which display my photography skills combined with my photo manipulation skills.
